Muk-Muk Bowl (Grease bowl) Tribe:
Haida, finely carved of wood with inlaid
abalone and ivory. Collected Vancouver
Island, BC about 1922-1925.

Great Basin Pitch Basket, 6" x 14" with horse
hair handles. There is some chipping of the
pitch along the upper edge, however, in this
basket is in wonderful condition for used
equipment. Similar in construction to water jars
made by the Apache, Ute and others of the Great
Basin region. I consulted a well know authority
about this basket and he stated that he had not
seen anything quite like it. Nor have I seen
similar items in recent auctions.

Northwest California "Mush" or Cooking Basket constructed of very tight twine. approx. 11" x 6.5" - Basket was collected in Northern California about 1920. x- R. B. Chandler Collection. Hupa or Shasta, as the collecting was done in this area Hu20-B115-05 $1750.

California Mission Polychrome Basket, Finely woven 6.5" x 3.75" P23-B011405 $1875.

Greenland Eskimo tall Mukluks with a hand written faded pencil note. A torn half of the note was found in each boot, "These boots were brought from Greenland in the year 1865 by John Marble in Schooner [written as 'Schoonees' ] Glacier of New Bedford. Made by the Eskimo women". The hand stitching is so fine and even that it is difficult to imagine that it could be done by hand. E865-0112-05 $550.00

Basket - lattice weave inter spaced with very
fine and tight twined segments. The bottom is
tight twine and imbricated. Measures 5" across
the top and flares to ~6" at the middle and ~ 5"
at the bottom.

Blackfoot Doll: Native tanned deer skin dress
beaded yoke and belt with fringe. Purchased
by the Devil Dancer Shop in Missoula,
Montana from a Blackfoot Tribal Member in
1979, who stated that the doll had belonged
to his Grandmother. The head appears to be
made of clay and with a painted face, as are
the hands. Conch shell earrings. Certainly,
the doll is not new, but has had a restoration
of undergarment. Doll 13" tall. BF-Doll-0011

This is a rare basket. I have not found a similar
basket in auction catalogs dating back twenty
five years.
Hopi Basket: Plain plaited wicker probably
constructed of rabbit brush, sumac or
willow,yucca. Approximate size is 11.5"dia. x 6"
deep. Probably from the Third Masa, the
principal pueblo of which is Oraibi. The
original collection documentation is not know,
the basket has been in the same family for
more than 80 years.
